This is more a problem with ffmpeg not with MythArchive.
 
The nuv support in ffmpeg is very new so there may still be some bugs in 
it. At least one person has got it to work but had to patch ffmpeg 
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/dev/208433#208433 . Not 
sure if that patch ever got into ffmpeg or not.

You might have better luck asking on the ffmpeg mailing list.
