You can also install "personalized" themes under the ~/.mythtv directory
(I think it's ~/.mythtv/themes ). So, just copy your modified themes
there. However, as Kevin mentioned, /you/ will have to update your
modified version to work with changes.
I just created a series of patches that I apply to mine. That way, when
a patch no longer applies, I know I need to see what's changed. For
menu themes, it shouldn't be that big a deal. For UI themes, in
addition to adding in new plugins, you would have to make changes for
new windows on the mythfrontend or any plugin's UI or for new required
elements on windows or ...
