I am having a hard time getting my MythTV setup to work. I have been working with this thing for some time, and I can't get anything but static on all the channels. I have verfied that everything works hardware-wise by testing the hardware under Windows. I also made a temporary KnoppMyth installation, which worked beautifully. (Temporary, because I want a general Linux installation that I can use for MythTV and other things, not an installation specific to MythTV)
My box uses Gentoo linux using version 2.6.17-r4 of the kernel, and version 0.7.0 of the IVTV drivers. I subscribe to Cox Cable in Omaha, with extended basic cable service (71 channels).
I saved the entire /etc directory from the KnoppMyth installation. Can I copy over some of the MythTV settings files from that directory to my Gentoo MythTV setup? I admit I don't know which files to copy where.
I don't totally understand the various frequency table options in the mythtv-setup utility. There is us-cable, us-cable-irc, and us-cable-hrc. I don't know the difference between the three, but I tried them all and they don't work. I do know that I used us-cable-hrc under KnoppMyth, and it worked, and also had to use us-cable-hrc to get a Windows application to work.
I get the static when I have the video output displaying on the monitor, and also when I have MythTV output to a TV.
