I hope someone can tell me what I'm missing here. If I haven't
resolved this by tomorrow, I'm just wiping the disk and installing
new.

1) I tried getting on IRC, but apparently either the myth channels are
down or my IRC is as broken as the rest of this system.

2) I've been doing UNIX/Linux for more than 10 years, but am totally
new to apt and other package managers. It's eating my lunch.

I have a Jarod's Guide FC3 18.x install that was running beautifully
until I decided to get the remote working. In an attempt to get ivtv
downgraded, I apt-get removed it. Now:

# apt-get update
# apt-get install ivtv

Many thanks!
