not much help with the other stuff. probably have to run ./autogen.sh  
first...

I havent been able to get my hauppauge 250 old black n grey working  
for a long time. the Wilson instructions just don't work anymore, for  
FC4 and me. I've given up and gotten myself a wireless keyboard. it's  
just a little bigger than the remote.

one of these days I'll have a hack at figuring out wtf went wrong.  
anytime I try to run mode2 it just spits back some crap about no such  
file /dev/lirc which is actually there. I saw some mention of a  
problem with ivtv and the hauppauge cards and their ir devices, but  
nothing definitive.
