[mythtv-users] Can't change channels in Mythtv 0.19-r1 Gentoo

I just upgraded to Mythtv .19 from .18.  I'm having a problem being able to
change channels. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the next
version of mythtv and still can't change channels. I've cleared my database
and recreated the database and still no beans. I have done this multiple
times and used the exact same configuration for both .18 and .19, but only
.18 allows me to make the channel change. I don't get any good errors
either. Just an "error while displaying video" mythbackend gives me these
two errors:

$WriteStringList: bad socket
$ReadStringList: bad socket
$RemoteEncoder::SendRecieve:StringList() no response

before dropping back to mythtv menu. Once again: With the exact same
configuration between 0.18 and 0.19, 0.18 works, 0.19 doesn't. Why is this
happening?
