No, actually it would fix the OP's problem. The reason he has a 20+GB  
file is because his son leaves on a channel that has a 10 hour  
program. If he had a setting that said, "Always split Live TV after  
60 minutes." then instead of a 20+GB file, he would have 10 2GB files  
for those 10 hours. Actually, he would only have the last hour (2GB)  
since it would expire the older 2GB files even though technically the  
program is still in progress.

Again, I'm suggesting a feature that would alleviate the problem.  
It's not currently in the software.
