[mythtv-users] Strange Sound Problem

I am in the process of setting up MythTV using a PVR-150.

Relating to sound, here is my problem:

Doing the cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg and playing that with mplayer. I
get perfect sound.

Launching mplayer as 'mplayer /dev/video0' generates sound problems. It
sounds like distortion or a buzz or crackling all at the same time.

Also, when Watch TV in myth, I get the same type of sound issues.

In experimenting with this, I tried setting stream_type=14 with ivtvctl
and it fixed the problem. However, as soon as I restart mythfrontend
and watch tv, it goes back to the previous setting of 0. I found that
type 14 is DVD type 2 so I set it their and now myth sets ivtv to that
same setting 14 but does not fix the sound noise.

If I issue the ivtv stream type command from the prompt it fixes the sound.

However, I can't get it to work correctly within mythtv.

Any clues? I have tried many tricks I found for sound problems that
sound similar but no joy.

I don't know what the ivtvctl -c stream_type=14 command does from the
command line which myth is not do when it sets to type 14, but only by
setting that setting from the command line, it corrects the sound and
only temporarily.

I have not tried recording yet. I figured I would get live TV working
first.

Thanks.

Jeff
