Yeah - it is a dell.. Pretty old too. That is why I was assuming that
was the problem. I have followed the lists and everything I could find
for over 5 months prior to posting, but something is awry..

I have the same or similar (enough) setup, so I will try it with another
PC to verify.. I can wipe my 0.19 box and just tar it over NFS to my
server to verify it.. I'll post back after this weekend.
