Sounds to me like your video mode is wrong. I dont do s-video here anymore
but if you modeline is correct you will not see any more flicker than you
would watching a "normal" video source. Also try the kernel deinterlacing
option.

All,
I'm using Fedora core 4, nvidia FX5200, S-video out with a 35" CRT TV (yeah
I know but my wife...) 
 
After tweeks to everything else I'm down to an annoying flicker on live TV
and watching previous recordings.  
 
The S-video cable is one from Monster though I have tried the one that came
with my nvidia card too.
 
What filters should I try?  The nvidia-settings flicker filter is set at 127
which minimizes the flicker but does not eliminate it.
 
Oh yeah please don't limit yourself to filters if you can think of any
settings anywhere that will improve the display quality please let me know.
