Warren, R.G.,

Thank you both for responding. I tried Warren's xorg.conf and got the
same results as before. I'm beginning to wonder if I have a problem
with my TV. Let me explain:

When the machine first boots I do see a picture. I'm running EpiOS. I
see the bios boot, then the frame buffer kicks in and I get a pretty
screen while the system boots. At this point I'm sitting at a login
screen. I login and then do startx. At this point the screen goes
black (actually a little gray) and then flashes and goes black (almost
like the TV is off).

I looked at my Xorg.0.log and it seems like everything came up fine.

Here are the only odd lines:

sp13000 ~ # grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Current Operating System: Linux sp13000 2.6.15-epios-r100 #1 SMP PREEMPT

(II) Loading extension MIT-SCREEN-SAVER
(EE) VIA(0): [dri] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI.
sp13000 ~ # grep WW /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
(WW) via: More than one matching Device section for instances
(WW) VIA(0): Manufacturer plainly copied main PCI ids to Subsystem/Card ids.
(WW) VIA(0): VT162x: Unknown cable combination: 0x0 5.
(WW) VIA(0): [XvMC] Cannot use XvMC without DRI!
sp13000 ~ # grep NI /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
sp13000 ~ # grep ?? /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
sp13000 ~ #

Now, about the TV. It only has composite inputs. I'm going to be
getting a new TV soon. I wanted to get this setup for S-Video so I'd be
ready when I got the new TV so I went to RadioShack and bought a
Composite to S-Video converter. It is supposed to work. Could it be
causing my problem?
