Don't use autofs on your DVD drive. If you just refer to it as /dev/hdc 
(or /dev/dvd or whatever device it is) then no need to mount it, and 
therefore no eject problems. I rip and play DVD's all the time and I have 
no problems ejecting a long as it's not in use.
