I have an XBox and X360 game pad working on my Mac. I know kernel 2.6
has support for the original XBox game pad, can't speak for the X360
pad, but I'm sure there's SOME support somewhere. They're pretty
good, with twelve buttons (ten buttons, click on each of the analog
sticks, X360 has an additional button). I find it good for everything
from MAME to SNES to PSX emulation. The XBox pad will require you to
either buy an XBox-to-USB adapter, or hack one together yourself. The
X360, however, uses USB without modification. As weird as it sounds,
recommending a Microsoft product for use with a Linux project, but
it's not that bad.
