I'll accept that, but usually that's not how those are advertised.
Putting gold on the connectors of my USB cable isn't going to make my
external hard disk perform any better. And given the cycle of animals
that some houses have (like my own), it's more likely someone is
going to be forced to buy new USB or HDMI cables due to purposes
other than corrosion.

Or a gold plated toilet seat. "Reduces corrosion, reduces
interference, and increases transmission!" Take that any way you want.
