I had considered this with my father who has satellite service in
another state. Basically you just need a user job that can run at the
end of a recording to rsync or otherwise move the file between machines
(using rsync over SSH) and then copy the recorded row in the database
for the recording and move it to the remote database and then run a
mythcommflag --rebuild on the file.
You could do some kind of VPN with a live master/slave setup to make the
database stuff easier but the VPN seemed alot harder than just doing
rsync/SSH
