The saa7146 cards are not really a problem and were it even without 
interupt I2C not.
Some cards use bit-banging I2C which takes significant time (10ms each 
call) see http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/2099 for reference.

Bu I'm not sure if it is useful feature at all. The values will differ 
between different cards. You can identify a broken recording only with 
some experience in "good" and "bad" values for your card. The only 
working way to recognize a broken recording is to actually view it.
