I'll also agree that the nVidia cards are best-supported.

A GeForce 5300-based card would be good for you, it is essentially a  
5200 with a PCIe interface. The problem is that they are very hard to  
find these days. The 5200 is probably the most often used MythTV  
video card, cheap and works well and are available in fanless  
configurations.

The amount of RAM on the card is really not important for Myth.

Something easier to find would probably be a 7300-based card.

There are more cheap AGP solutions but you say that is not an option  
for you.
