I'm in the same boat as you... I just upgraded to current SVN of
nuvexport. I haven't ran it in about a year, but I want to offload
some shows. It's taking me about 3.5 hours at ~6.5 fps to complete a
30 minute show. It used to be much faster. I'm not quite sure what
the problem is, but it is very annoying. Searching the mailing lists,
I can see that speed has always been an issue with nuvexport, but I
never really had any major issues until recently... I'm not quite sure
what the problem is.

Here is my readout from top:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
23178 mythtv 39 19 13136 6316 468 R 61.2 1.2 42:45.65 yuvdenoise
23179 mythtv 39 19 28288 19m 2152 S 26.6 4.0 18:44.83 ffmpeg

23169 mythtv 39 19 110m 53m 13m S 3.7 10.5 2:16.80 mythtranscode
23177 mythtv 0 19 12936 5432 1672 S 0.3 1.1 0:21.34 ffmpeg
