If you're really waiting 15 seconds for a channel change, then perhaps
this is a problem that can be solved without a lot of sloppy recoding
of the Live TV portion.

I've got a digital cable feed going into an STB, then into a PVR-250.
Channel changing is via IR blaster. This means that to change the
channel, my remote needs to send a signal to lirc, lirc sends it to
Myth, Myth sends it to the IR blaster, the IR blaster sends it to the
STB, the STB sends it to the cable head-end, the head-end changes
channels and sends it back to the STB, the STB decodes it and sends
the analog signal to the PVR 250, the PVR send it to Myth, which
buffers and begins playing the stream after maybe 4 seconds.

If you're waiting 15 seconds for a channel change I would guess you
have a problem outside of Myth.
