[mythtv-users] Freevo, Tivo & MythTV

I have to weigh in here on more time considering how honest and candid
Marco is on the subject.

I was primarily drawn to MythTV by all the good press its been getting
and by the following page:

http://www.mythtv.org/modules.php?name=MythFeatures

The very first line states:

"Basic 'live-tv' functionality. Pause/Fast Forward/Rewind "live" TV."

Unfortunately, nowhere does it say that channel changes will be upwards
of 3-4 seconds (mine takes 8 seconds but 4 of that is LIRC)

Having 3-4 second channel changes makes LiveTV unusable for most channel
surfers.

So now I am left with a Myth box which sits on my VCR/DVR circuit on my
receiver which will see pretty well no use at all and I am shopping for
a TIVO like PVR (in Canada they are not called TIVOs since Bell
Expressvu markets them under their name).

Luckily, I have 3 linux boxes at home and just plain like the o/s
however, my attitude about MythTV has changed a little and not for the
better.

So if someone here can explain to me how my experience serves the MythTV
community, I would love to hear it.

Thanks again Marco for your comment.
