You can use touch to create empty files with the movie title as a  
filename. The video manager won't care that files are empty, it  
merely cleans the filename, passes it along to the imdb query script  
and then squirts the results into the database.

It might also work to create soft links which all point to your dvd  
device. Presumably once something caught your eye you could load the  
disc and play it directly from the video browser instead of popping  
back out to the dvd menu. Depending on your perspective this would be  
the height of cleverness or the depth of stupidity.
