OK That one extra issue covered,  but there are probably other.  For
example, what if the schedule changes after the first program has
started recording.  Or, is there already code in the scheduler to look
ahead to determine any imminent recordings that may be on the same
'plex. Or...

The point I was making is that it is not JUST a matter of recording or
splitting the 'plex,  more a question how you fit such changes into the
overall system.

Point taken.  However,  if you that concerned about power consumption,
why run 24/365?  My first myth box (still) runs using nvram-wakeup so
it's only on to record or playback.

As a matter of interest,  how many channels do you get on a DVB-S 'plex?
My experience is all UK DVB-T.
