Thanks for the advice.

My cable company is Time Warner, in Greensboro NC. I have basic service,
no digital channels.
After much fiddling, this is what I have been able to identify so far.

channels.conf :
[WGHP]:729000000:QAM_256:66:67:3 # Fox8 WGHP
[WFMY]:729000000:QAM_256:64:65:1 # CBS WFMY
[WFMY_W]:729000000:QAM_256:73:74:2 # CBS WFMY Weather
[UNC_NC]:729000000:QAM_256:68:69:17 # UNC NC
[UNC_ED]:729000000:QAM_256:75:76:16 # UNC ED
[WXII]:747000000:QAM_256:64:65:3 # NBC ? WXII
[WXII_W]:747000000:QAM_256:69:72:4 # NBC Weather + ?
[UNC_?]:747000000:QAM_256:66:67:13 # WUNC ?
[UNC_K]:747000000:QAM_256:73:74:15 # UNC Kids ?
[UNC_HD]:747000000:QAM_256:76:77:14 # UNC HD

So that brings up another question. My computer is an AMD Athlon 64
2800+, with an Nvidia GeForce FX5200
video card. The playback looks horrible. There is massive pixilation and
the audio and video keep dropping out of sync. Mplayer keeps complaining
that my system is too slow.

I've been looking for an excuse to upgrade my computer. What is the
hardware needed to play back an HD signal with the pcHDTV card? Could I
get away with just buying a better video card? Or should I upgrade my
processor too?

Thanks for the information.
