It's had a range of 1-365 since it was added ( 
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/commits/163812#163812 ).  
It used to have a default of 7 (one week) until everyone whined about 
"it's recording everything..." at which point the default was changed to 
1 day ( 
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/commits/176993#176993 ).  
:)  Perhaps you were thinking of the default value?
