Because MythTV ALWAYS writes video streams to disk and then plays them back
from there, you only have 4GB of space and refuse to add more.  For less
than $20 you can get a capture card that will work with tvtime or xawtv and
will do EXACTLY what you want, even integrated with MythTV via the menus.
For less than $50 you can buy a much larger hard drive which will allow you
to use MythTV to do what you want.

If you're not willing to spend even $20 to get what you want, how can you
expect the Myth developers to put in hours/days/weeks of development time to
make MythTV work the way you want it to?

I'm not trying to be rude here, but those are the exact reasons why MythTV
is not the application you should be using to watch live tv.
