[mythtv-users] Frontend locking/freezing on FF on SD/HD content

Hi all.

I've got MythTV 0.20 setup on Gentoo. Occasionally the front end will
lockup while fast forwarding, generally this occurs when skipping "in to
the future", that is ff'ing into and past the end of the recorded
program. The only seems to happen in LiveTV, at least it's never reared
it's head during recorded programs.

This is with sticky fast-forward.

This is what mythfrontend continually pukes into the log when it freezes
playback. Sometimes it'll "unfreeze" once we've caught up to wherever in
the future it's FF'd to, if that happens myth won't accept any keyboard
input and must be killed and started again. I don't have any
'mythfrontend -v playback' output at this time, but I'll try and get
some. We're using the "Standard" mpeg decoder, and a PVR-150MCE card.

Software:
-Gentoo 2006.1
-Linux 2.6.18-gentoo (using built-in DVB drivers for pcHDTV card)
-MythTV: Gentoo-Portage version: media-tv/mythtv-0.20_p11281 (machine is
both a frontend and backend)
-ffmpeg: media-video/ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20060530
-gcc (GCC) 4.1.1 (Gentoo 4.1.1)
-ivtv 0.8, built from sources on ivtv website, since portage doesn't
have it yet
-XFCE 4.2
-LIRC 0.8.0, with lirc_streamzap

Hardware:
-ASUSTeK Computer Inc. K8N4-E Mainboard
-Non-OC'd AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ Venice
-1gb Crucial DDR400 RAM
-Hercules Game Theater XP (Cirrus Logic CS 4614/22/24/30)
-nVidia Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600 GT] (rev a2) (w/nvidia driver)
-pcHDTV 5500 (Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder)
-Hauppauge computer works Inc. WinTV PVR 150 (Internext Compression Inc
iTVC16 (CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01))
-250GB Western Digital Caviar

Thanks for any help, this is starting to get annoying. I just recently
formatted and rebuilt Gentoo on this machine after some upgrades to
support HD playback/recording, and this problem was prevalent even
before the rebuild. It's occurred since the 0.17 version we started with
well over a year and half ago, and has persisted through 0.18, 0.19 and
now 0.20.
