[mythtv-users] Confused about Commercial Flagging

I have a MythTv 0.20 from atrpms.net.
I am very happy with the system. But I am confused about how  
commercial flags are used by different components of the application.

I have my set to automatically flag all recordings in the default  
recording profile.
I also have automatic skipping turned on.

When I view one of these programs, the commercials are skipped just  
fine. But in the Program list window, there's no scissors icon to  
indicate that there is a cutlist.

Furthermore, when using mytharchive, I never get the option skip past  
commercials in the archived recording, the scissors icon is never there.

And yet, when I go play the program on the frontend, commercials are  
skipped.

Teh minute I edit the program, and load the cutllist, THEN the  
scissors icon appears int he program menu, and in mytharchive.

My question is: why doesn't all this happen automatically, myth has  
tagged all the commercials, but this information cannot be used by  
the other parts of the application, until I open the program and edit  
it and load the cutlist.

Do I have to do that for every single recording just to be able to  
use the information in other plugins and such?
