If you have a working IR receiver, you could try recording the Enter
button from the cable box's remote control, and then add this to the
DCT2244 LIRC config file. You should then also add the Enter button to
the channel change script so that it is always sent after the channel
numbers.

In my experience, some boxes need the user to press enter to change
channel, and some do not. It's down to the design of the software
running on the box whether you need to press Enter to change channel
(interesting MythTV itself has this as a user-selectable feature when
in LiveTV mode).

Check your channel configuration (use the channel editor in
mythtv-setup). The frequency value defined for a channel are the
number(s) that are passed to an external channel change script. For
those channels on a video source using an IR blaster, you need to set
the freqid to the channel number(s) that you press on the remote to
change the channel. The channel change then mimics the remote control
in order to change the channel on the external box.
