Yeah, but the point is:  do you even know what the 3 minutes are 
measuring on your system?  I'd guess what you think it's measuring is 
different from what it is measuring.  And, since you're losing the other 
1, 2, 3, ... 10, whatever measurements (since we only store the last) 
how useful is it, really?  Perhaps the first 3 downloads took 18 minutes 
each, but you see 3 minutes in the status (the length of the final 
download), so now you're confident that everything's just peachy?

IMHO, if the difference between start time and end time were really 
useful, we should be displaying that, instead.  However, I don't see it 
being a useful statistic--there are far too many factors that can affect 
it.  But, if it makes people happy, I'd be happy to not write a patch 
(and leave it as is).
