[mythtv-users] my mceusb2 remote doesn't work in Mythtv

My remote frontend now has a brand new mceusb receiver and remote.
Following the Myth docs. and the lirc website I've used the existing
config files to set it up. The 'irw' program gives me sensible
results.
However, when I run myth the remote doesn't work. I've also tried
running 'irxevent &' before starting myth but this doesn't do
anything.
mythfrontend --version reports that I'm using v0.20.20060828-3 and
that it is compiled for lirc.
Has anyone experienced this before or can you offer a solution?
