[mythtv-users] No sound...

OK, now I've got Mythtv to start I can't sort out the sound.

The TV card is producing sound on the Aux channel (if I have that
selected then the sound and vision are out of sync). I get no sound on
live TV or on recordings.

So, Using the how to guide section 7, I have selected Aux for the
capture channel and de-selected it for mixing live. I have changed
Audio from /dev/dsp to ALSA:default (although I note that /dev/dsp is
still listed under the sound card section for capture).

I have setup alsasound.rc (tried two methods - the "default" on the
ALSA site and the version on "Configuring Digital Sound" in the Wiki)

aplay /dev/dsp gives a read error. I have killed the arstd program in
case that was locking the audio stream. aplay will play a wav file on
the hard disk.

The TV card is a Hauppague BT848A based card, OS Mandriva 2006. The
soundcard is built into the ASRock K7VT2 motherboard.

What's the next step?
