I've just noticed that tv_grab_uk_rt seems to be broken:

tv_grab_uk_rt --version
XMLTV module version 0.5.44
This is tv_grab_uk_rt.in version 1.91, 2006/06/09 23:22:08

tv_grab_uk_rt --configure

I added a printf and the line it is trying to process is blank#

known issue?
