Thanks for the quick reply--
The resolution problems are fixed (just needed to poke around in mythtv setup).  As for the fuzzy audio problems, I haven't got a clue how to apply the patch posted in that thread...as usual if you just want to point me at the right docs, I'd be happy to just read up on it...
