[mythtv-users] Running as root

mgetty allows you to autologin as whoever you want.

my inittab has the following line

1:2345:/sbin/mgetty --autologin myth tty1 (it used to be root, but I
changed to myth. Rest assured root works just fine)

and then my /etc/passwd has a shell script called startmyth for the myth
users shell. The net impact is that the box boots, logs itself in,
starts X, starts mythfrontend and if mythfrontend should crash, init
re-logs in the myth user and starts it back up. Works very good. Holler
if you want more details.

The place where you made your stand never mattered,
only that you were there... and still on your feet
