[mythtv-users] Closed Captioning with HDHomerun and PVR-500 (Philips chipset)

Captions are an issue on my current setup SVN 3181.

ATSC via HDHomerun captions work, but do not have black backgrounds on
most channels and tend to overwrite on top of each other basically
making them pretty useless. However, there is an exception. ABC
primetime programs like "Lost" seem to work properly: logically placed
black backgrounded captions.

The PVR-500 IVTV NTSC captions never work. Even though I've setup NTSC
captioning in mythtv-setup and I know that the VBI is turned on in the
ivtv driver.

# ivtvctl -BX -d /dev/video1
ioctl VIDIOC_G_FMT ok
vbi service_set = 00001000
ioctl IVTV_IOC_G_VBI_EMBED ok
vbi embedded in MPEG stream: on

IVTV captions did work on my 0.19 MythTV setup, but not since upgrading
to 0.20 and finally SVN.

I am currently using Nvidia XVMC for video playback. But ivtv recorded
programs don't produce captions even with the standard player when you
hit 'T' on playback. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
