Personally, I never had much luck with nvidia's tool mucking around with
my xorg.conf file.

That component out page should probably be renamed to "ComponentOut and
HDMI", but it is close. :)
Also, if this helps, for my LCD flat panel, I used the following line in
the "Display" subsection of the "Screen" section, and, since my LCD can
only support 1080i and below, it happily chose 720p. :)
Modes "1920x1080_60" "1280x720_60" "720x480_60"
# 1080p 720p 480p
