Well I was thinking that if I had a BT878 card in the front end PC I
could run my Playstation 2 through it (and get rid of a AV switch box at
the same time). If it's going to use too much CPU power though then
I'll leave it out the equation and stick with the switch box.

The Adaptec card is a VideOh DVD Media Center PCI card. From what I
understand it has a similar chipset to the PVR-150/250 cards and is
compatible with ivtv. I've managed to get the card working under Linux
and it will capture into MPEG2 format at varying bitrates.

Ahh I see. I don't be playing any HDTV media just yet, just standard
definition PAL stuff recorded off digital terrestrial TV and free to air
digital satellite. I do have a Celeron 3.2 lying around too, I guess if
the Athlon 2000+ isn't quick enough I could use the Celeron 3.2 instead.

Thanks for the advice guys. It gives me more to chew on. I thought I'd
ask as I'm thinking of getting a satellite & terrestrial connection to
the loft where the master backend will go (as to save space and keep the
other half happy).

Cheers

Rob
