I think you're experiencing a bug I fixed a couple of weeks ago
http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/3175 - certainly the symptoms you're
describing sound like it to me.  Fancy checking out SVN head to see if
this issue is resolved for you? If not, then it's scheduled for
inclusion in 0.21.
