I think they are talking about the i915 chips, for which Intel
released a not-greatly-functional-yet GPL driver. I was talking
about the i810 family of chips. Last I heard, the problem with
the i915 is that Intel won't release the documentation for the
chip, so Intel's devs are the only people who can work
efficiently on the driver development, so the i915 driver
has taken much longer to develop into something useful than we
are used to in OSS.
