[mythtv-users] Crashing backend - *** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/mythbackend: corrupted double-linked list: 0x08f9bd00 ***

I have been having some problems with intermittent crashing of my backend.  Up 
until now it has been just disappearing causing all sorts of grief with 
children as it missed Dr Who, etc.

This morning I found it had crashed again with the accompanying message 
in /var/log/mythbackend:

*** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/mythbackend: corrupted double-linked list: 
0x08f9bd00 ***

It then is followed by a backtrace section and a memory map.

Can anyone help me with what it means?
