I think a lot of it has to do with me using Ratpoison over Gentoo.  My
Xorg doesn't take that much processor.  I imagine that if I was
running the native resolution, I wouldn't have any HD issues.

What I mean by "almost" just fine is that ABC(720p) plays beautifully.
 NBC and CBS, OTOH, (1080i) seem to streak the video.

I've also noticed that Lirc often doesn't recognize some of my
keystrokes when I'm playing HD on this machine.  I would bet that if I
nice up my lircd, I could get rid of this, but I haven't delved into
it yet.
