Is it possible that you have a problem between the DVD player and the
computer/OS? I have a system (actually two) that will not mount the
drive correctly. On one system, if the DVD is mounted manually (#mount
/dev/sr0 /mnt/file) the DVD can be played fine. On another, the DVD is
not recognized, no how, no way. I'm beginning to suspect a hardware
conflict where the drive isn't recognized properly. It's a newish system
running FC8. CDs cannot be played or ripped correctly, either. The DVD
player works and worked fine in previous installs, albeit not (known)
with this system. Just a thought.
