[mythtv-users] mplayer on m2npv-vm with ac3 pass-through = soundfull of gaps

When I try running mplayer on my m2npv-vm motherboard (using snd-hda-intel
module on ubuntu 7.10) with ac3 pass through it starts playing on my decoder
but then after a few seconds the dolby digital light turns off then on
again, plays for a few more seconds, off it goes again and so on. The gaps
in the audio are not regular either. It's as if my sound card stops sending
an ac3 signal for a moment then resumes again.

Straight analog out of the card is fine. Myth's internal player exhibited a
similar behavior until I turned off the sync audio to video frames option.

Any idea how I can fix this problem? does anyone else have this motherboard
and is doing ac3 pass through using the coax port with mplayer?

How long is your coax cable? I had similar issue with long (>10m) cable.
Other possibility is incompability between your amplifier and sound card.

If you can, test with other amplifier.
