For my front ends, I use an NVIDIA 6150 based Micro ATX motherboard with 
an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU. This system handles HDTV playback without 
using XvMC. With a case, 1024MB of memory and a DVD drive, a front end 
is less than $400 US. My front ends do not have hard disks because they 
boot over the network.
