For front projection I think it's one of the best technologies.  You get
more brightness for the same lamp wattage than you do with LCD. The
contrast ratios are generally the best you'll get outside of a CRT
projector.  Some people find the color wheel effect problematic -- DLPs
show each color sequentially in fast succession, not all three at the
same time -- but that's a visual cortex thing and varies from person to
person.  I don't notice it unless I turn my head very quickly while
looking at the screen.

For rear projection, well, it has all the usual disadvantages of rear
projection.  I don't like rear projection sets much. ;)
