[mythtv-users] No xvideo with Nvidia 7950

I am installing MythTV on an x86_64 box running FC6, using Jarod
Wilson's excellent how-to.

I have an nvidia 7950 card, and I have installed the drivers from his
rpms, (and previously also from the installer on the Nvidia website,
which gave the same results).

My problem is that I am not getting xvideo on the nvidia 7950 card in
the system. Specifically:

I can't run mplayer with -vo xv. When I do, it fails with the message
in output A below.
When I run myth and watch tv, the output B shows that there is also a
problem initialising xvideo.
I have also posted a copy of my xorg.conf below, with (hopefully) all of
the relevant bits intact.

Thanks to Stroller, who said:

> I _think_ this indicates that your graphics card drivers don't support
hardware acceleration.

I am fairly sure that this card does, as it is modern and high end.
Having said that, I can't find anything on the net one way or another.

> Have you installed the binary nVidia drivers?

>If you're using Fedora, following the instructions at Mr Wilson's site
then I observe the following installation method advised:
   #yum -y install nvidia-graphics9746-kmdl-$KVER
   # yum -y install nvidia-graphics9746-libs nvidia-graphics9746

Yes. Originally I installed these using the .run file downloaded from
Nvidia, and then at your suggestion using Jarod's links. The result is
the same.

>What does your xorg.conf say? Is Xvideo specified in there? Posing a
copy of your xorg.conf might elicit a response from someone more
clueful than I.

There is no xvideo specified in there. Should there be?

I have reposted this message as it got fragmented, and I wanted someone
to be able to see the progress without having to trawl too far.

Any comments or help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Richard Horton.
