[mythtv-users] bttv on x86-64?

Hi,

My main MythTV box is a Celeron D 3.06GHz running a 32-bit version of Fedora. 
I'm thinking of setting up a desktop system running a 64-bit version of 
Gentoo on an Athlon 64 3000+ as a slave backend for the occasional spillover 
program. I've got an AVerTV Studio card that I picked up cheap for this 
purpose; however, it seems to require the bttv drivers, and they don't seem 
to be available in the x86-64 kernel -- the relevant kernel options just 
don't appear in "make xconfig". When installed in my main MythTV box, the 
card works, but recordings get choppy when both tuners are in use (the other 
tuner is a pcHDTV 3000 card, which uses the cx88 drivers for NTSC 
recordings). So the question is whether it's possible to get a bttv-based 
card working on an x86-64 system, and if so, how?

Also and FWIW, the mythtv-setup program gives an option of configuring the 
AVerTV Studio card as either a frame grabber or as an RTJPEG encoder on my 
32-bit Fedora system. Unfortunately, the latter option doesn't seem to 
work -- I get blank (completely black) recordings, although live TV seems to 
work. I'm guessing this is a bug in the mythtv-setup detection code, but if 
I'm wrong and there's a way to get it working as an RTJPEG encoding card, I'd 
be interested in knowing how.
