I don't see how using EIT data should cause this issue. But it's easy enough 
to turn it off while trouble shooting.

My guess at this point is the input sources are not linked to the tuners? This 
would prevent upcoming recordings being scheduled because Myth does not 
associate an input source (i.e. "cable TV" "free to air tv") with the tuners, 
so it doesn't think it can tune them to anything.

Retrace your setup steps as well as possible in regards to setting up channels 
and tuners, and you should hopefully get back where you were.

Certainly someone on this list will be able to get your new frontend working. 
My first thought is that mysql on some (many?) distros defaults to only 
allowing connections from the localhost. So even if it would allow a user 
from another host access, that user has no way to connect.
