The command to change permissions is (as root): chmod -R mythtv.mythtv
/home/mythtv

Be sure to change the directory if "/home/mythtv" is not the right home
directory.

If it gives you an error about no "mythtv" group, you can do just "chmod
-R mythtv /home/mythtv"

Subject: [mythtv-users] Permission problem... mythtv user

Trying to run mythtv-setup and getting the following permission problem.

[mythtv at myth2 mythtv]$ mythtv-setup
mythtv-setup: error while loading shared libraries:
/usr/local/lib/libmythavcodec-0.20.so.0: cannot restore segment prot
after reloc: Permission denied

I added the mythtv user through root and it looks like all the
permissions for mythtvs folderrs, etc. is set to root, why is that?
How can I change the ownership and permissions of the mythtv user and
it's directory's, folders, files, etc to mythtv like it's supposed to
be?

Thanks,
