Alright, but I wish I could use mythtv with its menus and so on when
playing this format.

Anyway, my point is the following: if ffmpeg is able to deal with
flv files, why can't mythtv play them?

What should I change (I'll have to write some code, I guess) for this
format to be playable with MythTV.
